The Rwanda Women’s National Basketball Team suffered a 77–56 defeat to Egypt in their final preparation game before heading to Abidjan for the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025, scheduled from July 25 to August 3 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Rwanda has been in Egypt since July 10, holding a training camp and playing friendly matches against various national teams.

During this period, the team played three warm-up games, losing 69–61 to Cameroon in the opener, defeating Uganda 75–65 in the second game, and falling 77–56 to Egypt on Tuesday.

The team departs for Abidjan on Wednesday and will tip off their Group D campaign on Saturday, July 26, against defending champions Nigeria, before wrapping up the group phase against Mozambique.

Rwanda qualified for this year’s tournament after finishing fourth in the previous edition — their best-ever result. Head coach Dr. Cheikh Sarr, who guided the team to that historic finish, remains in charge, with the core of that squad still intact.

The preliminary roster for the Rwanda Women’s National Basketball Team includes Tetero Odile (REG W BBC), Philoxy Destiney Promise (APR W BBC), Mwizerwa Faustine (REG W BBC), Micomyiza Rosine (REG W BBC), Byukusenge Gloriose (REG W BBC), Uwimpuhwe Violette (APR W BBC), Vanessa Camara (Marne La Vallée, France), Sita Ineza Joyeuse (Grand Canyon University, USA), Irakoze Ange Nelly (REG W BBC), Jean Baptiste Irakoze Stephanie (APR W BBC), Hampton Keisha Lavow (Portland, Oregon), Uwizeye Assouma (APR W BBC), Murekatete Bella (Toulouse Métropole, France), Butera Hope (REG W BBC), and Cyuzuzo Rebecca (The Hoops Rwanda).
