Uganda deservedly won the CECAFA U17 with a winning streak of four games.

The CECAFA U17 tournament, which has been taking place in Rwanda for days in Rubavu district, concluded today Tuesday, 22nd December 2020.

Uganda’s U-17 achieved victory after defeating their neighbors Tanzanian 3-1 thanks to a powerful header from Soltilo Bright Stars lad Ivan Irinimbabazi in the 63rd minute followed by an extraordinary strike from the left-footed Travis Mutyaba in the 80th minute of the game. Travis was later named the tournament’s best player.

Ugandan defender, Vincent Mulema scored an own goal before Tanzanian defender put down Ugandan maestro Travis Mutyaba in the box, then Ibrahim Juma converted a spot-kick to make it 3-1

It will be a happy X-Mass for KCCA striker Brian Aheebwa as he tops the score charts as the new league champaign heads into the first break.

Mike Mutebi’s new season signing Brian Aheebwa has not disappointed his coach, team, and himself after a tremendous performance as the league break for X-Mas. The striker has bagged 7 goals topping the charts ahead of Police FC’s Ben Ocen who has 6 goals to his name.

Brian Aheebwa started the campaign in the league opener KCCA FC played against Soltilo Bright Stars at Kavumba recreation center. KCCA FC won this away fixture thanks to the first 2020/2021 league goal from Brian and another from his perfect match Ssenyonjo.

The pair were at it again on matchday 2 when they hosted Onduparaka at the MTN Omondi Stadium. The visitors suffered the biggest lost loss of the season so far, giving KCCA FC an 8 goal clean sheet win. Brian Aheebwa and Ssenyonjo’s gestures were not sympathetic towards the visitors. Brian scored 4 goals to make his goal tally 5 and Senyonjo scores 3. KCCA FC went to the top of the table after this win.

On matchday 3 Brian did not register any goals however, his side managed to win the match 2-0 against Mbarara City. KCCA stayed at the top of the league standings again.

Brian continued to add to his tally after a penalty spot kick goal for his side in the 89th minute in a game they lost 2-1 away to SC Villa. This loss made the kasasiro boys drop points and one position after their matchday 4.

In their last match before the X-Mas break, KCCA FC continued to lose points after a defeat from tax collectors URA FC 1-2, and Brian Aheebwa scored the only goal for his side. KCCA is 4th in the league table but Brian sits at the top of the scorer’s charts.

The Volleyball governing body of Kenya KVF has set 20th January 2021 as the new date for the upcoming league campaign to be played indoors.

In a meeting held on Saturday in Nairobi, Representatives from the Kenya Volleyball Federation KVF and team managers agreed on new dates close to the one previously set. The league was earlier set to commence 15th -17th January 2021 but after this congress, The new league campaign will serve-off on 22nd January 2021.

“Going forward, we will be at par with other nations that have their league matches indoor and, in many occasions, have had an upper hand in championships,” said KVF treasurer Kenneth Tonui. Uganda still holds league games at outdoor venues due to the enormous number of teams participating in the tightly scheduled volleyball calendar except for the playoffs.

Following the statement above, Kenneth said the federation is looking at 4 venues, Makande Hall in Mombasa, Africa Nazerene University, Bomas of Kenya, and Moi International Sports Centre Indoor Arena, Kasarani to play the league matches.

“We will have matches spread across the four facilities and if all goes well, the season is scheduled to end in June. We are glad Nairobi Water women’s team is back in the league having been out of action for a while,” said Tonui.

The new league will attract 8 women’s teams including defending champions Kenya Prisons, KCB Women’s Team, Kenya Pipeline, Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Kenya Army, Nairobi Prisons, and returning Nairobi Water.

In the men’s league, 13 teams are expected to participate including, General Service Unit (GSU), Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Kenya Prisons, KDF, Equity Bank, Mombasa Prisons, Administration Police (AP), Vihiga County, Kenya Army, Forest Rangers, Nairobi Prisons, Western Prisons, and Rift Valley Prisons.

The early start of the national volleyball league is a good sign that Kenya is making big steps to the resumption of volleyball activities in the country. The women’s national volleyball team will participate at the TOKYO Olympics and this will be ample time for head coach Paul Bitok to assess his Malkia strikers.

Following the incidents that happened at the Urunani stadium during the Bumamuru versus Flambeau match on 12/13/2020 like the isolation of journalists at the entrance, the aggression of the fans after the match, field invasion, stone-throwing that caused injuries, Burundi FA informed the public that while they are waiting for further inquiries, which could establish individual responsibilities, the Urunani stadium is closed until further notice.

The Competitions Commission is responsible to reveal the other stadiums from which Bumamuru and Les Elephants will host their upcoming home matches.

Police FC’s Ben Ocen will not let his counterpart KCCA FC’s Brian Aheebwa comfortably claiming top score bragging rights.

The law enforcers opened their league campaign hosting Wakiso based side Wakiso Giants in a goalless draw. Police then traveled to MYDA FC where the latter won 3-1. Ben scored a brace with the first goal coming 1 minute after Kickoff, no one has scored so early in a match ever since the new league started. This was followed by another away win against Kitara 5-0 in which match Ben scored a hattrick. Now the latest match where they defeated Busoga United 3-0 and again Ben Ocen scored a goal

Ben Ocen has proven to be a beast in front of goal after finding the net for his side 3 times out of 4 games they have played. Police FC now top the league table ahead, 1 point of Brian Aheebwa’s side KCCA FC. If UPDF FC wins the away encounter against Kyetume FC today, they will sit at the top of the table log. KCCA FC host URA in round 4 of the league whereas Police FC travel to Bombo to play brothers UPDF FC

With 6 goals for each, Ben Ocen now shares the top scorer bragging rights with Brian Aheebwa.

Soltilo Bright Stars Wrathful Against MYDA To Win First League Game

MYDA trembled before wrathful Soltilo Bright Stars as the hosts were ravenous for a win after a 3 match spell.

Coach Mbowa Abubakar’s side ended their streak of no wins after an act of wrathful attack on promoted MYDA FC, winning 3-2 to enjoy the first win of the season. There were no changes in the starting lineup for Soltilo Bright Stars from their earlier encounter away at Wankuluku which they lost 2-1.

All games played by Soltilo Bright Stars ended without a win, the team always came close to leveling the scores or achieving victory and for that matter causing a draw. All goals scored this season for coach Mbowa’s side came after his opponent ran out of goals. We saw this in their win, they came back to win after MYDA were done tallying all their goals for the match.

Striker Sempala Ronald scored a brace to level the scores after MYDA led the game with goals from Wahampi Joseph and Nsimbe Ibrahim. However, the hosts were hungry for a win, and in the dying minutes of the game, Kasinde Ibrahim delivered to put them in the lead just before the final whistle. Semapala leads the score charts for his side now.

Soltilo Bright Stars moved up 2 spots ahead of defending champions Vipers SC who have 3 games in hand, to sit in 10th place in the league standings. Can they pick another 3 points against Wakiso Giants who will host them on Friday, December 18th, 2020?

Can Mbarara City Cause Express’ First Loss To Register Their First Win?

Can Mbarara City Cause Express' First Loss To Register Their First Win?

Mbarara City FC host Express at Kakyeka Stadium Mbararara, could this be an opportunity for the host to log their first success of the season?

Unlike Express FC, the Ankole Lions have suffered 2 of the 3 in previous league ties which has jabbed them in the bottom 3 places of the league standings. In the past 6 league encounters between the two sides, the Ankole Lions have defeated the Red Eagles 3 times out of 6.

Express boss Bossa has on several occasions shown his targets of finishing in the top 4 at the end of the season and of the two matches played this season, he has registered one victory with no losses.

It is very unfortunate for Mbarara City FC that they will not play their league games in the presence of head coach Brian Ssenyondo until he returns from National team U17 duties in Rwanda. The Ankole Lions have not lost at home this season and neither has Express FC.

Mbarara City FC lost 2-0 and 3-0 away to KCCA FC and SC Villa respectively whereas the Red Eagles have not lost any match away. A win for the host tomorrow is crucial but they have their work cut out as Express FC is will a hard one to crack.
