EAUR Crush Inspired Generation, One Win Away from RBL Division 2 Title.

EAUR
East Africa University Rwanda (EAUR) overwhelmed Inspired Generation with a 107-59 victory in Game 3 of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) Division 2 Playoff Finals, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series and moving within one win of the title.

EAUR controlled all four quarters of the game played on Monday, July 22, at Petit Stade.

The Janvier Kamanzi-coached side bounced back strongly after a narrow 96-94 overtime loss in Game 2, never trailing for a single second during the 40-minute contest.

Janvier Niyizibyose scored 24 for EAUR, while Nicolas Oyono tallied 32 points and 10 rebounds, with Samuel Asiribo adding 10 points and 20 boards for Inspired Generation.

Before the game, Inspired Generation received tragic news that their club president, Duke Efufa, had lost his father.

The federation approved the team’s request to reschedule the game from Wednesday, July 23, to Tuesday, July 22, allowing Duke and his brother—who also plays for the team—to travel for the funeral ceremonies.

Duke Efufa is a cornerstone of Inspired Generation, serving as club president, head coach, and key player.

He and his brother are expected to return for Game 4 on Monday, July 28. A victory for EAUR in that game would secure the 2025 RBL Division 2 championship.

EAUR have already had a season to remember, earning their first-ever promotion to the top flight and winning the Heroes Tournament earlier this year. Clinching the Division 2 title would cap off a remarkable campaign.

EAUR and Inspired Generation have secured promotion to Division 1 next season, pending licensing. Inspired Generation last played in D1 after winning the 2023 D2 title but were relegated the following year.
